I play on StingRay since 2005 and I must say that factory specs for pickup height are too high for me. I think that it depends on your string height. Mind is 7/64 on E and 5/64 on G so it's a 1/32 difference between them. So I set my pickups the same but way lower. For me for medium gauge strings it's 8/32 on E from pole piece to bottom of the

About This Listing. 1998 Music Man Stingray EX Bass in Sunburst Finish. This bass is all original except the aguilar pickup and possibly the knobs. This bass sounds great with the aguilar pickup and it also has the flea era bridge. The bass does have some scratches and dings but is still very nice overall. Neck and frets are nice too!

Rockon! Guest. Apr 26, 2006. The SR5 isn't better than the Sterling or the other way around. They are just different basses. The Sterling has a smaller body and a more jazz like neck. (al least the 4 banger has). And I believe the pickups are different as well. Alnico vs. ceramic. Just go to a store and see which one suits you best!
